A safe warehouse is a workplace where modern horizontal marking systems have been applied. Check out the latest trends in this area!
Horizontal marking is the primary method used to improve the organization of work in the warehouse and provide greater safety for personnel. This includes marking communication and transportation routes, as well as marking dangerous places. Below we present modern marking methods that are worth using in a warehouse facility, as well as in other places where special working conditions prevail (cold stores, production facilities).
Delineating separate paths for pedestrian workers and aisles for vehicle operators makes movement in the warehouse space smooth and uncluttered. With proper floor marking, workers do not block each other and collisions are less likely to occur. Unfortunately, in places such as warehouses, steel mills, factories or cold storage facilities, lines made with paint or tape can be damaged by increased employee traffic or environmental factors (e.g. high humidity, chemicals). Lines made with paint or tape may also be poorly visible due to lighting conditions (dark room, too bright light) or dirt on the floor. In addition, in the event of changes in traffic organization, existing lines can create chaos and lead to collisions, so they need to be painted over (or torn off) and new lines drawn.
Difficult weather conditions, too little or too much lighting, a floor covered with a thick layer of dust - all this does not matter when the paths are marked out by Virtual Line. This is a modern method of marking, in which paint or tape is replaced by laser or LED light. The device emits a beam of bright light, which creates a line of any color (e.g. green, blue, red, yellow and white) and an appropriately selected width. In this way, corridors can be delineated to ensure the safe movement of workers and the efficient transport of goods. Virtual Line can also be used to mark dangerous areas, parking lots, driveways, loading and unloading zones or areas off-limits to vehicle traffic.
The main advantages of the Virtual Line are:
Delineation of lines and corridors is not the only method of horizontal marking in warehouses or manufacturing plants. Warning and informational signs, which can be pasted or painted on the floor, are also used to protect the health and lives of workers. Unfortunately, such signs can be damaged by weather conditions, heavy use or chemical compounds. Signs can also be poorly visible under a layer of dust or be overlooked by workers (for example, due to lighting conditions). Signs may become outdated after time, for example, due to the relocation of a loading zone to another location. In order not to confuse employees, it is then necessary to remove the old markings and stick or paint new ones.
In modern warehouses, there is a move away from warning stickers, as horizontal signage can be made with a projector. An LED sign projector in OSH allows you to display any sign (a ready-made pattern or a personalized message), which can be enhanced by pulsating light. The sign displayed on the floor is intense and clearly visible even in adverse lighting conditions or on a heavily soiled floor. Made with a projector, the signage is highly resistant to external factors, so it can also be used in places with special conditions (cold stores, freezers, steel mills). In addition, the sign can be easily adapted to the current needs of the company, changing its appearance or position.
Examples of LED projector applications in horizontal signage include:
Unlike marking done with paint, tape or special stickers, the aforementioned systems provide great flexibility. Markings made with an overhead projector or laser can be easily adapted to the current needs of the company, and their appearance or position can be modified in the event of changes in warehouse logistics. Additional solutions (e.g. motion sensor, pulsating light) can also be used, making the signage more difficult to ignore and thus providing greater security. Both the LED projector and the Virtual Line have many applications and in practice can prove to be a more cost-effective solution than traditional signage, which has to be renewed from time to time.
